Corrosion
Protection for Steel
Protect metal structures with our corrosion-resistant coatings.
Advantages of ATPG's unique,
flexible, solventless coating:
Iron and steel rust when they come into contact with water and oxygen. They rust faster in salty water and acid rain. All steel corrodes when unprotected from specific environmental conditions. Protective coatings are the most commonly used method for corrosion protection, and ATPG's proprietary coating performs better than any of its competitors.
The environmental conditions in
industrial areas are ripe for corrosion:

Water, salts, acids--all corrosive agents which attack concrete and steel--are extensively used in the construction of steel structures. Controlling corrosion on steel structures is of paramount importance, as corrosion can cause industries annual economic losses in the tens of millions of dollars.
ATPG Outperforms Other Protective Coatings
Industries utilize protective coatings to act as a barrier between the corrosive elements and the concrete and steel surfaces. However, corrosion is still very prevalent throughout all sectors of industry.
..........................................
Why is that?
Persistent failures of protective coatings on steel structures, as reported by NACE, are primarily attributed to the following three causes:
1
Insufficient coating thickness, which leads to holidays
and pinholes leaving areas of the surface unprotected from corrosive agents
2
Coatings not able to survive the corrosive agents in
the environment
3
Failure to adhere to the various surface shapes, especially the radius of a weld bead
ATPG Industrial Coatings overcome these noted deficiencies of other coatings
-
IC is a high build, self-priming, self-leveling one-coat product, allowing the applicator to achieve proper thickness and virtually eliminate holidays and pinholes.
-
IC is highly resistant to all the corrosive agents encountered in industrial areas.
-
IC is a solventless 100% solids product, which will not shrink or curl at edges or the radius of weld beads and has a bond strength to steel in excess of 2800 psi.
-
IC products do not promote “Corrosion Creep.”
